As part of the new Flemish Open Science Policy Plan, the Flemish Research Data Network (FRDN) is launching eight calls for participation. Interested candidates can apply to join one or more bodies within the governance structure to actively contribute to the further development and implementation of the policy.

Context

The new Flemish Open Science Policy Plan 2026-2030 was approved by the Flemish Government on 3 April. The plan aims to evolve towards a research culture in which Open Science is the norm (Open Science by default) and is integrated into the entire research process from the outset (Open Science by design).

Open Science is approached as a broad and nuanced concept, with particular attention given to both the FAIR principles and Open Access.

The policy plan is implemented through a network organisation: the Flemish Research Data Network (FRDN). Within this network, the various actors take part in the bodies of the governance structure, which are responsible for the concrete development and follow-up of the actions.

We are currently looking for members to compose these bodies.

Overview of the calls

The Coordination Hub

The Coordination Hub is responsible for the day-to-day operation and coordination of the network and acts as the link between policy and implementation.
To complete the Coordination Hub, we are currently looking for four members. In doing so, we aim for a balanced representation of the various divisions.

You can find all information here

Two thematic groups

The thematic groups Open Science Policy and Architecture are the successors of the working groups RDM & Open Science and Architecture, respectively.
Composition is based on representation from the institutions or divisions. The groups consist of permanent members and (optional) substitutes.

All information on both calls can be found in the documents below:

Five project groups

In the 2026 working year, five project groups will be launched to implement five specific actions from the policy plan. We are looking for motivated candidates with expertise in the relevant domains.

All information on the five project groups can be found in the documents below:
